That sounds like exactly the type of thing they would have been interested in.

The switches--all of them--were created as a way for humans to get through space to meet the Presenter. The Astroswitches were meant to be used with the Fourze driver to safely warp through space; the Zodiarts switches forced humans to evolve enough to do so.

No wonder you're behind on the space travel thing.

What's a Presenter?

I'm not really sure. Supposedly it's a life form that sent feelers out to different parts of the universe to learn more about life on other planets, or something. The explanation was kind of convoluted. Everything started with the Core Switch, to my knowledge.

So your switches came from a prototype switch that came from some far-off planet.

[meteorstorm]

Something like that. The Core Switch created the Core Child, which was then used to gather information about human life, who was then to return to the Presenter.

[ I'm just going to neglect to include the part where that Core Child is Kengo ]

[I don't even know Kengo, so ...]

And people still don't believe in aliens.

There were only about three people who knew anything about it. One of them was killed shortly after the Core Switch was discovered. The other two more recently.

... that sucks.

[Almost sheepish. Almost.]

They're the people who developed the switches and drivers to begin with. One developed the Astroswitches and the Fourze driver. One developed the Zodiarts switches. The last just followed the other two around, until he developed the Meteor driver and switches later on, based on Fourze's design.

What stopped them from developing it all at once if they all knew one another?

All of the Fourze's switches and the Zodiarts switches were created at the same time, about twenty years ago. The people who made them were in disagreement as to which was the better choice to use for meeting the Presenter. It would've taken--and did take--years to complete the Fourze driver and its switches; supposedly the argument from the person who created the Zodiarts switches was that they'd never get a chance to accomplish their goals during their lifetimes if they used the driver.

And the third person?

He was basically the guy who just rode on their coattails, hoping for some sort of acknowledgment. He later became a member of the Anti-Zodiarts Alliance, developed my driver and switches, and I think he was responsible for M-BUS, too.

So he was a leech.

He was reasonably accomplished in his own right. That's just how it tends to be within a group of friends. There will be the natural leaders, and there will be the followers.

So what exactly happened to the one who built the switches for the Zodiarts?

Gamou Mitsuaki. The Sagittarius Horoscopes. Gentarou defeated him.

And the other one?

Utahoshi Rokurou. He was murdered on Gamou's orders.

He's Kengo's father.
