The Zangyack Empire decided it wanted the whole universe, so it's been working its way through, taking over planets who will obey and leaving nothing -- or at least, not a lot -- alive on the ones who resist.

So you fled to some backwater little planet in the far reaches on the universe.

I stayed on my own planet. Eventually I left, but I wasn't running. [Not from that, anyway.]

Because coming to Earth was what we needed to do to find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Get all of the keys, and you get the treasure. The last keys were on this planet.

Right. Pirates.

Exactly. Pirates. I left my planet to make money, and with what that treasure is worth, I could get anything I wanted.

King Midas was the subject of a legend where everything he touched turned to gold.
