Our space program hasn't gotten out that far.

You have a couple, but not a lot. But they have a lot of little dwarf galaxies around them, although they don't really have much.

I'm not the best with directions but I think Andromeda should be the closest that isn't just a dwarf.

We only know what we've seen from telescopes. The moon is the farthest anyone has gone, and we've only recently landed anything successfully on Mars.

The natives will be happy about that, I'm sure.

There's no life on Mars. Or any other planet around us.

That depends very much on how you define life.

I'm not sure we've even found bacteria or single-celled organisms.

That's probably because you're arrogant enough to say that just because you haven't met them, they don't exist. You talk about being the only kids on the block and wonder why the others don't want to come play with you!

You don't make any sense. Most of them can't support life.

It can't support you. Doesn't mean it can't support life.

Obviously there are other planets that can support it. It doesn't mean these ones can.

And all it means to you is that it can't support the same kind of life Earth can. But you are that willing to write off an entire system as dead except for you, just because you can't see anything that looks like something you know.

Can you blame us? We're not capable of sending a human out past much farther than our moon. We only know what we can find with rovers and telescopes.

Give us another sixty years and maybe. Relatively speaking, our space programs are fairly new.

Fifty thousand years or so for behavioral modernity.

Two hundred thousand, give or take, for anatomical modernity. Figuring the planet is about four and a half billion years old . . . we're not by any stretch of the imagination the oldest beings here.
